History of Bibione: historical events that occurred in Bibione

The
history of Bibione, like many other towns in beautiful Italy, is an
ancient and
eventful history. Its fate links it inevitably to sea and water: a wetland from its origins, the
Romans were the first to discover its potential, picking it among many already in the early centuries AD.
They reclaimed the territory and shared with the town, although not always peacefully, language, traditions, and inevitably costumes, which still today are present in
Bibione. Once faded the Roman Empire, its strategic position was grasped by the Serenissima, the great maritime republic that was talked about in all Europe,
Venice.
Again,
Bibione was part of a great empire, at the fall of which it began to experience centuries of degradation and neglect when the wetlands won out and recovered those territories that once belonged to them.
